This Initiative focuses on improving school infrastructure and learning environment as a way to get both students and their teachers to be more invested in learning and teaching. A safe, healthy and inspiring learning environment is a worthy incentive: it promotes positive attitude to learning and teaching which in turn affects performance. Learning environment extends to the entire ecosystem of education—from supporting infrastructural development and beautification projects to feeding students, providing school uniforms, supporting sports development and extracurricular activities, debates, quizzes and competitions, immunization, and sanitation.

The EduTrust Foundation team in conjunction with partners will conduct a visit to selected schools to assess needs, engage and agree with the school administrators on what needs to be done.

Adopt-a-School Initiative is aimed at serving the underserved by reaching schools and communities where regular government reach does not fully extend to, especially those in rural areas. Projects under this Initiative may include the following:

• Provision of school uniforms to indigent pupils and students
• Supporting sports development and other extracurricular activities
• Supporting quizzes, debates and other competitions
• Supporting immunization and/or sanitation
• Scholarships/enrolling promising students for UTME, SSCE, JSCE or NECO exams
• Equipping classrooms with chairs, desks, tables and chalkboards
• Provision of textbooks and exercise books to students
• Construction and stocking of libraries
• Construction and equipping of laboratories
• Construction or renovation of classroom blocks
• Construction or renovation of teachers’ offices/staff rooms
• Renovation of toilets and play grounds, etc.
• Rehabilitation of school or classroom blocks
• Enhancement of school walls and environment
• Award of prizes for punctuality, neatness, character and academic performance
• Enrolment of indigent students in secondary school and university entry exams
• Provision of midday meals on specific days/events.

Adopt-a-School Initiative enables focused and structured support to selected schools or communities on a sustained basis rather than ad hoc contributions. Through effective monitoring and evaluation, it promotes tangible results and impact in the long term. Other items, project ideas and projects of interest to donors and partners not listed below may also be considered. Names and logos of donors and partners will be posted at project sites for visibility.

We have explored and will build strong relationships with construction companies, product and service delivery companies that sign up to the EduTrust Foundation mission to deliver education for all by reaching underserved and unserved communities in Nigeria as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). Services are therefore priced fairly and at the best market rates available.
