Welcome Message
A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. In our case, it started with a stubborn idea. In July 2014, a few young men and women with very little more than a passion for excellence and the conviction that it was not enough to simply complain about the ills in our society, made a decision to do something about the situation of education in Nigeria.
That decision led them to consider our challenging reality and some opportunities hidden in that reality:
- Nigeria’s vast territory and her difficulties in adequately providing for everyone and for every community especially in locations distant from centres of government;
Who we are
Conceived in 2014 and established in 2019, Educational Trust Foundation for Sustainable Development (EduTrust) is a game-changer in the education sector in Nigeria.
- We realise that the way schools’ curriculum is developed and the way teaching is delivered in Nigeria presently leave up to 50 million schoolchildren at all levels deprived, particularly the girl child and at the basic education level.
- We are concerned that those who have carved out an existence outside the formal schools sector are left behind and will continue to fall behind if things are not done differently, and that those left behind will become a greater burden to society in the future.
The EduTrust Brand
EduTrust is made up of four (4) elements:
Education: Education is our business—the promotion of equity and quality in expanding access to education. We exist to provide varied educational tools, services and products which will meet the varied needs of educational institutions, communities and students.
Social enterprise: We are a social enterprise and a not-for-profit venture. This means that we apply business strategies to maximize social impact and to create value for stakeholders. We are not averse to creating value. When we make profits or returns from any venture, we reinvest it into expanding access to education. We also provide incentives to local innovators and resource persons who are a strong link in our value chain.
