As with the mother organisation (One Laptop per Child), the aim of this initiative is to inspire and empower some of the poorest children, both in school and out of school, by opening them up to e-learning tools. The initiative will provide each child in a selected school or area with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop. The children and schools will benefit of pre-designed hardware, content and software for easy, collaborative, joyful, and self-empowered learning. With access to this tool, schoolchildren are invested in their own education, and they can learn, share, and create together. They become more connected to useful resources, to each other, to the world and to a brighter future.

EduTrust Foundation plays the role of facilitator in linking resources from the government, tech companies and other partners to acquire this tool and channel them to areas of substantial need. One of the key targets is to make e-learning content available in local languages where possible. This is a sure way to get pupils and students at the basic level more invested in learning.
